 Spider
Lake has a reputation for producing trophy-size fish each year. This
four-mile-long lake provides great walleye fishing, muskie fishing,
northern pike fishing, largemouth and smallmouth bass fishing and
perch, crappie, bluegill and other panfish. The lake's numerous
bays and points provide terrific structure for a wide variety of
game fish.
At the resort we sell live bait including
nightcrawlers, leeches and minnows. We also sell fishing
licenses, gas and oil, and offer boat, motor and pontoon rentals. Click
here for watercraft rental information. We have three fish
cleaning houses and free freezer space for your catch.
According
to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources lake information
report, Spider Lake has a walleye gill-net catch near the upper
end of the expected range of similar lakes. Size structure is excellent
with several fish exceeding 20 inches. Walleye fry are currently
stocked one out of 3 years. Walleye growth is faster than the statewide
average for ages 1 to 5, and slower than the statewide averages
for ages 6 to 9.
 The
DNR report says that the northern pike gill-net abundance is within
the expected range of similar lakes. Size structure is moderate
with most fish around 20 inches. A detailed muskie survey conducted
recently describes a healthy muskie population. The report notes
that smallmouth bass are also abundant with a higher than expected
gill-net catch for similar lakes, according to the DNR. Size structure
is moderate with a few fish exceeding 14 inches. Largemouth bass
gill-net abundance is lower than the expected range for similar
lakes. The trap-net catch for bluegill, black crappie, yellow perch
and sunfish are all within the expected range of similar lakes.
